The Meek shall inherit the earth

Matthew 6:24-34 …Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.

Recap True Gospel is preaching about the kingdom of God coming to earth (now and later)

Adam and Eve were placed in the Garden of Eden (metron) and given the responsibility of managing this area on behalf of the Lord. They failed in this task due to deception and lack of discipline and were thrown out of their promised land.

When we are born again, one of the tasks we are given is to bring heaven to earth in the area

(metron) that we have responsibility for, as we do this, the Lord will increase this area. Joshua 1-6 To become successful in these tasks we must overcome in a few areas of our character: -

Holy and Profane - Ezekiel 22:1-31 v26, 30 V 26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things; they have put no difference between the holy and profane

Holy – qodes 6944, qados 6918, cherem 2764

  • Sanctify –separation to God, Relationship, Lifestyle
  • Separate- to mark off by bounds, withdrawal from, to avoid, hareem
  • Consecrate- dedicated, perfected, one purpose,
  • Devote – aspect of worship, gift of love to

Profane – halal 2490

  • Defile – pollute, cross a boundary, trodden on
  • Wound – injured, sick, not whole, damaged
  • Desecrate- insult, ignore ownership, show contempt for
  • Common – available to anyone for any purpose

Greed or Grace - Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Greed – Covetousness – to lust after, to have more, to have what belongs to others or is unlawful, can involve being cruel and grasping as well as miserly and stingy. Sense of ungratefulness, superiority, and entitlement, of being insensitive and uncaring towards others and their needs.

Grace – Charis – Gratefulness and contentment and willing to give generously, thoughtful and sensitive, a friendly disposition from which the kindly act proceeds, loving kindness, to bestow goodwill. Graceful means grateful, thankful.

2 Kings 4:8 – 17 Shunamite woman

Meek or Weak - River not a Canal, the water flow determines the course not man.

Philip 2:12-15 for it is God that is at work in you…

Gal 2:20 it is no longer I that lives, but Christ in me;

Arabian warhorses trained for battle, final test taken to the river when thirsty and then led out again before drinking. Gal 6:1,

  • Strong – mighty, not weak or infirm, able to overcome, stand strong against opposition and temptation
  • Stable - emotionally strong, tried and tested, longevity to inherit
  • Submissive – having the right or power but refraining for others benefit
  • Self-disciplined – lifestyle that is ordered and restrained for a purpose
  • Stewardship – able to successfully manage projects and properties for others

Heb 13:5-7 Let your character be free from love of money…..be content

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

Matthew Henry "The meek are those who quietly submit themselves to God, to His word and His rod, who follow His directions, and are gentle towards all men, becoming pliable, malleable, submissive and teachable.

Debt - Debt is a consequence of a lifestyle that is ill-disciplined and out of control. This involves spending more than you have coming in and therefore having to borrow from someone to be able to live at that level. This causes you to become slave to that lender. Prov 22:7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

Meekness involves restraining your expenditure to be less than your income, meaning you always have something in reserve.

This is a vital aspect of good stewardship and explains why the meek will inherit the earth.

Luke 16:10 N I V "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."

Luke 19:17 Well done, my good servant, His master replied. Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.
