The Gift of Faith: -

What it is!

  • It is a definite knowing that a" particular action" will take place.

  • This action could be a salvation, healing, deliverance.
  • It could be a specific amount of money arriving by a specific time.
  • It could be official permission to do something, such as planning permission, a visa to enter a country or council agreement to a large evangelistic event.

What it is not!

  • Confidence in your own abilities. Worldly faith
  • A general attitude of trusting the Lord. Psalm 37:3
  • A gift of being a faithful / trustworthy person 1 Tim 4:1-6 the faith
  • A continual high level of faith. Matt 17:18-20

Old Testament Examples.

  • Joshua 14:12 Caleb…. give me my mountain.
  • 1 Sam 14:6 Jonathon…maybe the Lord will work for us.
  • 1 Sam 17:37 David …he will deliver me from Goliath Deut. 28:7 + 10.

New Testament Example.

  • Acts 27:25 Paul…it shall be as I was told.
  • Math 8:8 + 10 Centurion just speak the word.
  • Math 9:18 Ruler lay your hand on her, and she will live.
  • Math 9:21 Woman If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.

How faith comes.

Romans 1 :17 faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

A Rhema word comes to us from the Lord, either directly through our own studies or prayers or revelation, or indirectly through a preacher, prophecy, or prayer.

This Rhema word causes faith to arise in our heart for that particular action.

How the Gift of Faith comes 1 Cor 12:1 -11

  • Asking for it.
  • Impartation from another.
  • Prophetic Declaration.
  • Directly from God.

But once you recognise you have this Gift of Faith for something to take place, you realise it is there for any further instance where it is needed.

When you step out on this Gift, you could well find that the level of the faith increases so that you expect it to work either quicker or in greater measure, the next time you must use it.

At some time in the future the Lord may instruct you to impart it to someone else.

Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

Working of faith 1 Cor 12:6 ,10

  • Blowing on.
  • Breathing on.
  • Laying hands on.
  • Praying for individually.
  • Praying for corporately.
  • Praying at a distance.
  • Prayer cloths.
  • Anointing oil.
  • Told to do something.
  • Told to go somewhere.
  • Told to go to someone.

My examples.

  • Believing for finances for missions' trips
  • Buying a minibus
  • Buying a Window Cleaning round

In these examples I found it easy to believe as I knew it would take place. I have had other situations where I have tried to believe, never being certain that it would take place, and sure enough it didn't.

We can ask the Lord for the Gift of Faith for when we need it according to Mark 11:22-24
